Fall Colors Weekend 2015

Have you ever wondered how or why leaves change color? Join the Starved Rock guides as they hike to overlooks and canyons throughout Starved Rock State Park to enjoy the amazing colors of fall. Learn basic tree identification, how leaves change color, and all about the history and geology of Starved Rock! Free guided hikes to see the spectacular colors of Fall. Hikes leave the State Park’s Visitor Center at 9:00a.m. and 1:00p.m.


Guided Winter Hike

Guided Winter Hikes are offered every Saturday & Sunday from December-March. Hikes run from 11:00-2:00 pm. Art in the Park

Starved Rock Lodge’s Art in the Park Exhibit is the largest collection of chainsaw woodcarvings in the Midwest. The centerpiece of the exhibit is the large Native American Indian head in front of the Lodge – entitled Chief Walks with the Wind. This carving is a tribute to honor Same Sine.
