Starved Rock Lodge offers a calendar of fun things to do throughout the year. Starved Rock State Park is one of the best places in Illinois to go hiking. We offer seasonal and historic Trolley Tours, guided hikes, musical tribute shows and more.

Enjoy our most popular tour and see Starved Rock from the water! You can really see how big the ROCK is when you see it from this perspective. Wilderness Wednesday take place every Wednesday at 3:00 pm from June 4 –August 27. Join the fun at FOX RIDGE (located directly across from the main steps of Starved Rock Lodge)! This weekly nature education program is suited for all ages. Each week, a guest presenter will introduce participants to a new nature topic. Topics include bees, geology, insects, snakes, butterflies and more! This is a great opportunity to learn something new about the world around us. Weekly guided hike through Starved Rock State Park (and sometimes visiting nearby Matthiessen State Park) every Thursday morning, year round. The group meets in the lobby of the Lodge and departs at 9:00 a.m. Hikes last between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the destination. The hikes vary each week and over a 3-month period, the group will see the entire park. So, over the course of a year, the Walker’s Club sees each part of the park in each season of the year. Make some new friends and learn about wildlife, wildflowers and more. This event is free and open to the public. PLEASE NOTE: We will not hike on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
Join us for a cruise aboard Belle of the Rock. This tour is offered every Monday & Thursday evening from June-September. Tour includes a Trolley Shuttle to and from the boat. The boat ride is a relaxing, scenic hour-and-a-half cruise on the Belle of the Rock paddle wheel boat. The tour concludes with dinner from our special dinner menu with dessert. Guided hikes with lunch are offered by Starved Rock Lodge on Saturdays and Sundays from April through November. Participants meet in the Hotel Lobby to pick up a lunch and a souvenir “Starved Rock” backpack. Our friendly guides from Starved Rock Lodge will share their knowledge of Starved Rock State Park (named a National Historic Landmark in 1960) and Starved Rock Lodge (named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985). Our guided hikes are classified as strenuous. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate (waterproof) shoes.
