Starved Rock Lodge offers a calendar of fun things to do throughout the year.  Starved Rock State Park is one of the best places in Illinois to go hiking. We offer seasonal and historic Trolley Tours, guided hikes, musical tribute shows and more.

Guided hikes with lunch are offered by Starved Rock Lodge on Saturdays and Sundays from April through November.  Participants meet in the Hotel Lobby to pick up a lunch and a souvenir  “Starved Rock” backpack. Our friendly guides from Starved Rock Lodge will share their knowledge of Starved Rock State Park (named a National Historic Landmark in 1960) and Starved Rock Lodge (named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985). Saturday Nights July-October 7pm Fox Ridge Many different storytelling events are held under the serenity of the pines at Fox Ridge, our outdoor education & entertainment venue, across from the main doors of the Lodge. Campfire Stories are every Saturday night from July through October. Join us and some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire.  Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun! Join us for Bird is the Word, a very interesting Bird Education Program, presented by Hoo Haven on Sunday, August 31st, 2014. Every experience at Starved Rock State Park is enhanced by the beautiful sights and sounds for the hundreds of species of birds found in the park during different times of the year. So many visitors ask questions about the different birds they see and hear while hiking or while enjoying a quiet moment  along the Illinois River or up at the Lodge.
