Starved Rock Lodge offers a calendar of fun things to do throughout the year.  Starved Rock State Park is one of the best places in Illinois to go hiking. We offer seasonal and historic Trolley Tours, guided hikes, musical tribute shows and more.

Wilderness Wednesday take place every Wednesday at 3:00 pm from June 4 –August 27. Join the fun at FOX RIDGE (located directly across from the main steps of Starved Rock Lodge)! This weekly nature education program is suited for all ages. Each week, a guest presenter will introduce participants to a new nature topic. Topics include bees, geology, insects, snakes, butterflies and more! This is a great opportunity to learn something new about the world around us. Weekly guided hike through Starved Rock State Park (and sometimes visiting nearby Matthiessen State Park) every Thursday morning, year round. The group meets in the lobby of the Lodge and departs at 9:00 a.m. Hikes last between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the destination. The hikes vary each week and over a 3-month period, the group will see the entire park. So, over the course of a year, the Walker’s Club sees each part of the park in each season of the year. Make some new friends and learn about wildlife, wildflowers and more. This event is free and open to the public. PLEASE NOTE: We will not hike on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a cruise aboard Belle of the Rock. This tour is offered every Monday & Thursday evening  from June-September. Tour includes a Trolley Shuttle to and from the boat.  The boat ride is a relaxing, scenic hour-and-a-half cruise on the Belle of the Rock paddle wheel boat. Friday: 11:00am (Tour begins with lunch at 11:00am) Our popular Canal Boat & Trolley Tour begins with a delicious hot lunch at Starved Rock Lodge.  Next, you’ll board one of our trolleys for a ride through historic downtown Utica and stop at Cattails (where you can shop for unique treasures, wine, gifts and more).  Your trolley will then take you on a relaxing ride to LaSalle, where you will board the canal boat.  Step back in time, with period-dressed interpreters, on this 1-hour, mule-pulled canal boat ride. Learn the rich history of Illinois waterways, especially the Illinois & Michigan Canal.  After the boat ride, you’ll travel to the Starved Rock State Park Visitor Center. Guided hikes with lunch are offered by Starved Rock Lodge on Saturdays and Sundays from April through November.  Participants meet in the Hotel Lobby to pick up a lunch and a souvenir  “Starved Rock” backpack. Our friendly guides from Starved Rock Lodge will share their knowledge of Starved Rock State Park (named a National Historic Landmark in 1960) and Starved Rock Lodge (named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985). Music and outdoor dining with a great view! It’s all here at Starved Rock. Join us  for a rockin’ good time with music from bands you’ll long remember. Relax with live, acoustic music every Friday & Saturday night from 8-11 pm Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. The Veranda is located just outside The Back Door Lounge of Starved Rock Lodge. Music runs from 8-11 pm. The grill opens at 5, but food service is available for lunch as well. The scenic Illinois River Valley serves up a sunset and panoramic view that is truly photo-worthy! Bring your friends and family this weekend.
