Join us for Bird is the Word, a very interesting Bird Education Program, presented by Hoo Haven on Saturday, August 31st. Every experience at Starved Rock State Park is enhanced by the beautiful sights and sounds for the hundreds of species of birds found in the park during different times of the year. So many visitors ask questions about the different birds they see and hear while hiking or while enjoying a quiet moment along the Illinois River or up at the Lodge. Join Starved Rock Lodge’s nature education staff and the staff from Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation Center as they lead you in various activities to learn more about birds and the role they play in our everyday world. There will be games to help you learn about birds, a wildlife first aid program and a program focusing on the wild bird species in Illinois along with a few feathered friends who will pay a visit. This is a free event. Voluntary donations will be accepted to help fund future nature education events at Starved Rock Lodge. For more information call the Activities Department at 815-220-7386.
