Eli Tellor of Ana, Illinois, won the 33rd Annual Country Showdown State Finals on Thursday, August 21, 2014. The singing contest was held outside on the Veranda of Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center (Utica, IL). Tello, who represented WOOZ radio of Carterville, IL, performed two original songs and played guitar–earning extra points for original composition and performance. His song selections were Country Girl Touch and Ghost. Tellor plans to take his $1,000 prize and continue with his country music career, performing and recording more original songs. Tellor now advances to the Midwest Regional Round of competition which will take place in Walker, MN in October. Other contestants were Cassie Fowler (Macomb/WLMD), Tim Gleason (Yorkville/WALLS/Peru), Vickie Page (WHFB/Benton Harbor, MI), The Parrish Brothers (Jason and Tim Parrish) from WGKC/Urbana, IL. Sponsors of the Country Showdown were Starved Rock Lodge, WALLS 102, the City of LaSalle, Euclid Beverage and Dr. Ed Monroe.
