The inspiring wood chainsaw sculptures that can be found decorating premises of Starved Rock Lodge are created out of dead trees surrounding the Lodge. Rather than cutting them down and hauling them away, we allow local artists to transform these majestic works of nature into magnificent examples of man's appreciation of nature through sculpture. We feel that this is a way to allow the tree to live on and tell it's story to future generations of Starved Rock Lodge guests. The sculptures are especially popular with guests who may be unable to hike into our canyons. The sculptures are accessible by wheelchair and stroller. A map is available to help you find all 24 current wood carvings. |
