Fall Isn't Just One Weekend

November 05, 2019

The magnificent colors of autumn are still very present at Starved Rock State Park and will probably be pretty for a few more weeks. Nestled in the middle of this autumnal beauty Starved Rock State Park is a one-of-a-kind destination which sits high atop a bluff overlooking the scenic Illinois River. Starved Rock Lodge is more than just a historic hotel, there is an on-site restaurant (which serves award winning prime rib, local fare, gluten-friendly options and much more). The Café has a delicious variety of house-made ice cream and fudge along with a breakfast and lunch menu, wine, gift items and travel supplies. The indoor pool complex is a favorite for families and multi-generational travelers because there is a gated, shallow pool for little mermaids and swimming pool for the bigger kids. There are two saunas and a hot tub, too. Just steps away from the trails is the Back Door Lounge which serves locally made craft beer, Gorgonzola Nachos and  has a lunch/dinner menu. The Lodge is open to the public year ‘round. Visitors and hotel guests can book trolley tours and guided hikes—the perfect way to experience the natural wonder called Starved Rock.

The ambiance of the historic Great Hall will be the setting for “Rosie & The Rivets” on October 28 and 29 and the “World War II Radio Show” (November 11, 12 & 13). Tickets to this “Tribute to the Stars” shows include a hot lunch buffet. With the holidays just around the corner, Gift Cards are available for purchase online and may be used for tribute shows, lodging, dining, tours, souvenirs and more.

Upcoming events include holiday buffets on Thanksgiving and Christmas (pre-payment required with reservation). Tickets are on sale now for the Lodge’s annual New Year’s Eve Party in the Great Hall. Whatever time of year you visit, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and a reminder that Starved Rock Lodge is a friendly place where the past is always present.
