A Note from the CEO

April 25, 2020

Like all of you, we are patiently awaiting notification from our Governor regarding when the “shelter in place” will be lifted.  We are very excited to get back to the new normal and to welcome all of you back to our historic Starved Rock Lodge.

Safety First

In the last six weeks we have discussed and worked on ways to protect both our staff and our guests once our doors are back open.  While it goes completely against our service style there will be changes both short and long term.  Some of them won’t be pretty.  Such as Plexiglas barriers.  But all are necessary to ensure that we come back from Covid19 in a better, healthier place.

As we look toward the future we are confident that we can still provide our guests with a great experience and hopefully as we make changes we can add things that will be exciting and interesting.

Like many businesses we are facing very big challenges ahead.  Cancellations of rooms, activities and weddings is putting a strain on our finances.  While we are not in the habit of asking for help, we find ourselves in a position where there is no other alternative.  We are offering options for “buying now and spending later” as well as gift card opportunities instead of cash refunds.  We would like to ask that our May guests making cancellations due to the “shelter in place” to please consider taking a gift card in exchange of a cash refund or better yet rescheduling your visit.  We are able to schedule two years in advance.  Ask our operator about gift card opportunities when they call you about your reservations.

While the Park will remain closed through much of May, there is no indication at this time that we won’t be back in business by June 1 so we please ask that you stick with us, keep your June, July and future reservations and let’s see what happens.  Hope and optimism will go a long way over this next month to helping all of us get through this.

Stay safe, we will see you this summer!

Yours in travel,

Amy and Karl Trimble
