Winter is here. Our first snowfall arrived on December 28th. The Lodge is still decorated for the holidays and families are gathering to celebrate being together. Our New Year’s Eve Party will take place in the Great Hall on December 31st. The theme is “Throwback Prom” and tickets are still available.
On Sunday, January 2, 2022, the “Romance in the Park” Wedding Expo is set for Noon to 3pm. Brides and grooms can explore our wedding venue, meet a variety of vendors, sample Lodge cuisine and check out on-site accommodations. Admission is free. No RSVP needed!
Guided Winter Hikes depart each Saturday and Sunday at 10 am. You’ll get to see the winter wonderland called Starved Rock State Park with frozen ice falls and, hopefully, bald eagles in flight overhead. The hike is about 3 miles round trip. Hikers should dress appropriately and bring Yaktrax and trekking poles for extra traction. Reservations are required. Tickets are $15 per person.
Winter Wildlife Tours start January 8th and run from 11 am to 1 pm and 1pm to 3pm each Saturday and Sunday (except on Eagle Watch Weekend). This tour includes a trolley ride to see Bison at Buffalo State Park. You’ll also go to the IL Waterway Center observation deck to see if you can spot and eagle or two! Guests will receive a sack lunch upon boarding. Tickets are $25 per person.
Bald Eagle Tours are the highlight of winter here. These tours begin with lunch at 11 am. Ride our trolley to the IL Waterway Visitors Center for eagle viewing and educational seminar. Advanced reservations required. Tickets are $30/adults, $25/children 10 and under.
The IL Audubon Society will be having their presentations for Eagle Watch Weekend here at Starved Rock Lodge. The events will be on 1/29 & 1/30/22. Saturday shows will be at 10am, 1pm, 3pm & 7pm. Sunday shows will be at 10am, 1pm & 3pm. The trolley will also be shuttling that day to the visitor center, water way & back. The cost will be $3.00 for an all-day wristband. The Sled Dog Team from Free Spirit Siberian Rescue will return for live demos and indoor seminars on Sunday, January 16th and Sunday, February 27th. Come on out and witness these amazing animals. There will be huskies for you to meet and greet as well as info about the rescue and how to help, volunteer, and adopt. Admission is free and event is open to the public. Dog sled demonstration times are 9:00am, 11:30am, and 2:30pm and are located far corner of the Visitor Center Parking lot by the River.
Indoor seminars will take place at Starved Rock Lodge at 10:30am and 1:30pm. Masks are required for the event and gloves or mittens are required also if you wish to pet the dogs.
An Experience like no other by Midwest Dueling Pianos! Don’t miss this wildly entertaining music and comedy dueling piano show on February 21 & 22 at 11:30am. Tickets are $65 per person. Buffet lunch is included.
