Autumn breezes and amazing views of the scenic Illinois River Valley make October one of the best months to visit Starved Rock Lodge. There are so many reasons to come to Starved Rock in the fall, but here’s another great one: head to Veranda on Sunday, October 8 from 2 to 4 pm to enjoy tastings of this season’s Oktoberfest beers. Plus, the Duseldorfers Band will be playing the songs of Germany under the tall oak trees as colorful leaves flutter to the ground. The Chefs of Starved Rock Lodge have created two seasonal specials (available for purchase). The first is an Oktoberfest Sausage Platter which includes 3 different sausages, German potato salad and cabbage with apples. Or, maybe you’d rather enjoy a large pretzel with beer cheese, pickles and local mustard. There’s no charge for the tastings of a variety of Oktoberfest Beers. A free Sam Adams stein comes with the purchase of an Oktoberfest Draft beer (while supplies last). Music will continue until 5pm on the Veranda.
The adjacent Back Door Lounge is also open for food and beverage service. The Main Dining Room is open from 8am to 3pm for breakfast and lunch then reopens from 5 to 9pm for dinner. The Saturday night Prime Rib Special is seasoned and freshly smoked in-house. Reservations are highly suggested for the Main Dining Room. Please call (815) 220-7321 in advance.
