It’s Not Too Late for a Great Escape

July 08, 2024

August 21st is the “middle of summer” so there’s plenty of time to take advantage of this wonderful season with a getaway that’s close to home but worlds away! Starved Rock Lodge (Oglesby, IL) has river cruises, music tribute shows, an indoor pool and more to entertain you during your visit.

Outdoor dining on our Veranda offers the best view in LaSalle County. Or, you can cool off in our Main Dining Room or Back Door Lounge. Check out our beer list and seasonal cocktail menu, too. We have live music on the Veranda every Friday night from 8-11pm. This weekend is the “Rockin’ the Tropics Luau” on the Veranda!

River Cruises on the scenic Illinois River are offered on the Eagle 1. Choose a one-hour “Waterfowl Cruise” or a “Land & Water Cruise” which includes lunch. If you’d rather board a 149-passenger sternwheel, step aboard the Sainte Genevieve for a “Sunset Cruise” or a “Lock & Lunch” experience.

Historic Trolley Tours ($18) run on Mondays, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 3pm-4:30pm. Sunday departures are at Noon & 1: 30pm. Learn about the National Historic Landmark known as Starved Rock State Park and Lodge. Travel to the Lock and Dam, the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center and through historic downtown Utica. You’ll also stop by the Starved Rock Visitor center.

Take a Hike & a Lunch Guided Hikes ($25) run every Saturday and Sunday through November from 10am to 2pm. Explore Starved Rock and discover canyons, bluffs and seasonal waterfalls on this 3-mile (round trip) guided hike. Listen as the guide tells stories about the Starved Rock area. Visit a Canyon & a Boat Ride is the best combo tour departing every Saturday and Sunday at 11am. Board a trolley with a guide, then hike to the entrance of one of Starved Rock’s most scenic canyons. The walk is less than a mile and takes about 45 minutes. The hike is followed by a relaxing boat ride on the picturesque Illinois River. A snack, bottle of water and souvenir drawstring backpack are included. Tickets are $55 per person.

Waterfowl Cruises depart every Saturday and Sunday in October at 1pm. Board a trolley outside of the Great Hall of the Lodge for a one-hour boat ride. The Trolley will return you to the Lodge. Tickets are $37 per person.
