Tails on the Trails is a program that welcomes you to go on a guided hike with your pet. Dogs are welcome but so are other pets such as cats and birds. The rules are: you must keep your pet on a leash, pick up after them and stay on the trails while hiking. Head out to the Sunset Shelter at Starved Rock Lodge on Sunday, December 8th for photos with Santa! You’ll get a photo of your pet (and you) with Santa, a warm drink and a treat. This event runs from 1 to 3pm. Walk-ins are welcome! Meet the leader of this program, Jaimie London, and her dog, Judge.
If a guided hike with your pet sounds like fun, save the date of January 19th (Sunday) and enjoy the winter beauty of Starved Rock State Park as you explore Council Overhang, Ottawa Canyon and Kaskaskia Canyon. Meet at the Ottawa Canyon parking lot (located on Route 71). This hike will be led by Jaimie London. Departure is at 1pm and ends at 3pm. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $15 per pet owner.
