Guided hikes are the best way to learn about Starved Rock State Park and everything it has to offer. Take in the natural beauty of the park while learning about the geology and cultural history of Starved Rock.

Take a Hike and a Lunch

Discover Starved Rock’s canyons, bluffs and seasonal waterfalls on this guided hike. Listen as the guide tells stories of how Starved Rock got its name along with other legends of the area. Break for lunch at the halfway point. Lunch includes your choice of turkey, ham or veggie wrap, snacks and bottled water.

Guided Winter Hikes

Discover the winter beauty at Starved Rock State Park on a guided hike. There’s a chance of spotting bald eagles soaring high in the sky or experiencing majestic, frozen waterfalls. Dress appropriately for the weather, including proper footwear such as Yaktrax. Included is a granola bar, bottled water, Starved Rock backpack and voucher for a small hot chocolate or coffee in the Cafe upon your return.

  • $15/person

Starved Rock Walkers Club

Join us for a weekly guided hike through Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park or along the I&M Canal. Hikes last between two and three hours depending on the destination. The Walkers Club does not hike on Thanksgiving Day.

Special Hikes

Starved Rock Lodge offers special guided hikes throughout the year! Hike to all of the canyons in one day on our seasonal MegaHike or hike to the top of the Rock in support of a cure for breast cancer at our annual Hike for a Cure event in October.
