10/27/20: The bridge over Fox Canyon and sidewalk leading to the lodge from the large parking lot will be closed on Tuesday, October 27 from 9 AM to 1 PM for a routine inspection. Barricades will be in place to redirect traffic.

Trail Update: All trails are open except the Lodge’s (eastside) Veranda staircase and Illinois/Ottawa Canyon connecting trail. Matthiessen Dells Area at Matthiessen State Park is now open. The trail closest to Lake Falls and shelter is still closed as well as the Vermillion River Access area. For more information, please visit IDNR’s website.

Per Illinois guidelines, face coverings are required in all buildings (and trolleys) at Starved Rock Lodge & State Park.

Please maintain social distancing of 6-feet when you meet someone on the trail who is not in your small group.

  • Guided Hikes

    Starved Rock Lodge now offers “Take a Hike & Lunch” every Saturday & Sunday. Check in at 10:45am in the hotel lobby to meet the guide and get your lunch. Hike departs at 11am and goes to Wildcat Canyon, Eagle Cliff and Lover’s Leap and will return around 1:30pm. To ensure social distancing while eating, hikers will have lunch at Fox Ridge. Lunch includes: choice of ham, turkey or veggie wrap, piece of fruit, bags of chip, snack and bottle of water. Cost is $20 per person. To make a reservation, contact the Front Desk or call (815) 220-7386. Hikers should wear a mask and practice social distancing when within 6′ of other hikers.
