Storytelling with Bill Myers
Sun. October 31 @ 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Storyteller Bill Myers will return to Starved Rock Lodge for two special events. The first night of storytelling will take place under October skies at Fox Ridge (located across from the front steps of the Lodge). The happy Halloween themed event is set for Sunday, October 31st at 3:00 p.m. In addition to hearing some great, family-friendly stories, there will be a bonfire. Each family will take home a free pumpkin from Mr. Myers. Admission to storytelling is free. Donations will be gratefully accepted. The rain date for this event will be on Halloween (October 31 at 3:00 p.m.).
Save the date of Tuesday, December 28 for the next event. This is a perfect opportunity to come to the Lodge for lunch and then gather around the fireplace in the Great Hall of Starved Rock Lodge. The beautiful holiday decorations will still adorn the Lodge. The tales for all ages will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will include famous stories such as “Return of the Native” by Robert Taylor Burns which chronicles the history of Native Americans in this part of Illinois. Guests of all ages will especially enjoy the story called “Christmas Guest” which is a spoken song, composed by Johnny Cash. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon between Christmas and New Year’s. Both storytelling events are free and open. Donations will be gratefully accepted.
