Hurricane Relief Benefit Raises $4,476!

Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center recently raised money for hurricane relief through three fundraising efforts. A total of $4,476 was collected and a check will be presented to the American Red Cross. On September 25th, the Lodge hosted a “Flood of Love” benefit concert to raise money for hurricane relief. Country music artist Eric Chesser performed in the Great Hall, along with his band, as supporters sang along and enjoyed the live performance. Chesser was also impressed with the open-hearted atmosphere he saw that evening. He donated the proceeds from the night’s CD and apparel sales as well. Eleven business partners generously donated raffle prizes and all proceeds were added to the donation total. The Lodge’s Back Door Lounge Manager, Des Ratajczak came up with the idea after Hurricane Harvey hit Houston. “I never imagined there would be several hurricanes and so many people in need of help,” said Ratajczak, “Our community’s support makes me very proud.” In addition, throughout the month of September, Lodge employees donated money to the cause when they were allowed to wear jeans on Fridays. The third collection was from a portion of overnight stays during the month.  Starved Rock Lodge CEO Amy Trimble said, “This event was possible because we have a team that is committed to helping others from hotel guests to victims of natural disasters and thanks to our business partners, we were able to raise more money than I ever imagined!”
